Who couldn't use a fairy godmother? I know I needed one... and practically out of thin air... she appeared. Her name is Joan Gillman and over the years, I suspect she's played fairy godmother to many entrepreneurs. An internationally known small business expert, she founded the Family Business Center and has held top spots for UW-Madison's Special Industry Programs, Small Business Development Center and on and on. A fairy godmother is defined as someone with magical powers who acts as a mentor. Now I haven't actually seen Joan cast a spell yet, but it's pretty magical how she found me... you'll see in the story. She's become our business coach and her warm but no-nonsense style makes her the perfect mentor for my stubborn self.
