Wis-Kino Fall Kabaret Arts Notices Screening of short films, 7 pm, 11/20 Sundance Cinemas 608. Public is then invited to make a film in 48 hours (utilizing a secret ingredient announced on 11/20), to be viewed at 7 pm, 11/22, Sundance ($5). 852-6373
The third and final Wis-Kino Kabaret of this year is going to be here next month. The Kabaret will kick-off on Friday, November 20th at Sundance Cinema's North Lounge at 7pm. This kickoff screening is an open screening, and any filmmakers or aspiring filmmakers receiving this message should consider bringing something to show, provided it is 5 minutes long or less. There is no set theme for this kick-off screening. If you plan on making a film, or being involved in a film being made, DO YOUR BEST to be there for the kickoff. If you for some reason can't, contact Emily or Josh and we will arrange some sort of workaround.
At the end of the screening we will announce the Kabaret theme that filmmakers must work into their Kabaret films. We will do our best to post this theme online promptly.
Then two nights later, on November 22nd, at 7pm, we will all gather again, this time in spacious Theatre #2 of Sundance Cinemas and the crowd will delight in the fruits of filmmaker's 48-hour labors. The kickoff is free and the Sunday screening is a very recession friendly $5. Hope to see everyone there!
A Note from Josh
This upcoming Kabaret will be a very special one for me, as it will be my last as acting co-director of Wis-Kino. Emily and I are currently in the process of getting a replacement for my role. If all goes well, we will be able to introduce the new co-director at the Kabaret. I have been co-running things for about 4 years now and feel that I have accomplished what I had wanted to with Wis-Kino and that it is time for fresh leadership. Heck, we vote in a new president every 4 years, so maybe there is something special about that number.
While I will be stepping down, I will not be "quitting" Wis-Kino and in fact look forward to being able to participate in next year's Kabarets simply as a filmmaker. So please, try to make it out to this Kabaret and we can all have a fun time.
