THE CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED, RENOWNED MADISON TREASURE, ANCORA STRING QUARTET TO PLAY THE OPERA HOUSE
Join four of the Madison area’s finest musicians, The Ancora String Quartet, for a compelling evening of chamber music at the Stoughton Opera House on Saturday November 7 at 7:30pm.
This chamber ensemble is making a name for itself with dynamic performances and a repertoire that ranges from Mozart to the Indigo Girls. The musicians of the quartet, Leanne Kelso League (violin), Robin Ryan (violin), Marika Fischer Hoyt (viola), and Benjamin Whitcomb (cello), earned degrees from leading music schools including the New England Conservatory, Eastman School of Music, Indiana University and the University of Texas-Austin.
Individually, the players in this quartet maintain busy performing careers in Madison's most respected ensembles such as the Madison Symphony, the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, and the Wisconsin Baroque Ensemble. Together they're a knockout, as they bring the incredible string quartet literature to vibrant life.
Come experience what has been described by Isthmus music writer John Barker as a valuable component of south-central Wisconsin’s musical life; offering fresh and unusual repertoire in highly accomplished performances.
This special concert at the Stoughton Opera House will feature Swiss composer Joachim Raff’s lushly romantic Quartet No. 7 ‘Die Schöne Müllerin’ (The Beautiful Maid of the Mill), and Beethoven’s transcendent Quartet No. 15 in A Minor Op. 132. www.ancoraquartet.com
