Microcosm Publishing's "Tall Tales" Summer Tour in Madison!
Here at Rainbow
Friday, July 11th, 7:00pm
The traveling road show crew from the anarcho-rad publishing venture, Microcosm, is coming to Madison on July 11th!.
The increasingly influential indie producers and distributors of books, films, zines & pams, and radical gear of all sorts, the gang from Microcosm is making Rainbow its first stop on its 2008 "Tall Tales" Midwest Summer Tour.
Microcosm Publishing is an independent publisher and distributor based in Bloomington, IN and Portland, OR. They distribute and publish a great collection of authentically radical zines, books, pamphlets, stickers, buttons, patches, t-shirts, posters, films, and more!
Their stated purpose is "to add credibility to zine writers and their ethics, teach self empowerment, show hidden history, and nurture people's creative side."
Touring with the crew is indie film maker Joe Biel, and one of the mainstays at Microcosm's Bloomington info office. He'll be speaking on his $100 & A T-Shirt VHS: A Zine Documentary and showing the film Plan It X
Also appearing will be Dave Roche, author of On Subbing: The First Four Years , a wonderfully illustrated collection of heartwarming stories drawn from his experience working as a substitute teacher for special education students in Portland Public Schools.
Others accompanying the tour will include book designer and button maker Sparky Taylor, animal liberation activist Chris Lynch for the Deep Roots Animal Sanctuary, and others.
The Microcosm crew will also be sporting a large assortment of their wares, including books, zines, DVDs, T-shirts, comics, and more.
