Sweden's Movits! blend hip-hop with humor that transcends cultural differences

Madison crowds aren't always eager to dance, but they won't be able to stand still at the High Noon Saloon on March 31. That's when Movits! -- a group from Luleå, a town near the cold northern border of Sweden -- will hit the stage. For the past seven years, they've been making a unique brand of hip-hop mixed with big-band horns and a gradually increasing amount of electronic dance music. >More

 Vanishing Kids resurface in Madison after a long, mysterious hiatus

Vanishing Kids is an apt name for the band led by Fitchburg's Nikki Drohomyreky and Jason Hartman. After forming in Madison in 2000, they released a flurry of dark, complex rock records and relocated to the West Coast multiple times. They eventually settled in Portland, Ore., where they put out a split 7-inch in 2009. Then there were no new songs or concerts. Years went by, and still nothing.
