Appalachian Armageddon at High Noon Saloon

Win two tickets to Appalachian Armageddon with Count This Penny and Winn Dixie at the High Noon Saloon on Saturday, April 26! This show is 21 and over. Local groups play to those nightmares you had about The Road with "eye-popping" stage wear and original material. Oh man, The Road flashbacks are hitting me. Baby BBQ! Viggo Mortenson's cavernous eye-sockets! AHHHHHHHH!

Miss Shevaughn & Yuma Wray at The Frequency

Win two tickets to Miss Shevaughn & Yuma Wray, Snouts and TT & the Night Owls at The Frequency on Wednesday, April 30! This show is 21 and over. You might be quick to characterize Miss Shevaughn & Yuma Wray as straight up Americana if you just heard the first part of one of their songs. Suddenly, some reverb or heavy riffs and a little psychedelic echo gets thrown in and it becomes clear their latest Lean Into the Wind is a little weirder than your usual folk/country fare. Snouts play very mellow acoustic folk harmonies and look really cute in knit hats together. Tom Teslik is the TT of the Night Owls and dabbles in all sorts of local musicality, ranging from being a sound tech at The Project Lodge (RIP) to membership in Meteorade.

William Fitzsimmons at Majestic Theatre

Win two tickets to see William Fitzsimmons and Ben Sollee at the Majestic Theatre on Sunday, May 2! This show is all ages. A William Fitzsimmons seated show makes a lot of sense, given the quiet melodic folk he's known for, including his latest, Lions. Ben Sollee began in the seated show mode, but of late has diversified quite a bit in contrast to his Appalachian cello folk days. So maybe they'll both do seated shows? Do they just bring chairs in for folks after Sollee gets done? OOOOOHHHH, maybe they fight about it on the road, with cello v. guitar jam-offs, judged by the audience!

Youngblood Brass Band at Majestic Theatre

Win two tickets to see Youngblood Brass Band, The Handphibians and Louka Patenaude at the Majestic Theatre on Friday, May 9! This show is all ages. Locally based Youngblood Brass Band know all the trappings of success at this point, but with said success and national tour behind Pax Volumi, they also know the agony of getting cropped of press photos because of having all the brass. Sorry, guys on the far right and left margins, there's a price that must be paid.

The Dan Band at Majestic Theatre

Win two tickets to see The Dan Band at the Majestic Theatre on Saturday, May 10! This show is all ages. You may remember The Dan Band from hit movies like Impostor, A Gentleman's Game and The Forgotten, but, wait...What do you mean I'm wrong? Oh, I guess none of those were hits...That's not it? Oh, that's Gary Sinise & the Lt. Dan Band. Right. This Dan Band is the swear-happy cover pros from The Wedding Planner, Starsky & Hutch, The Hangover and any other comedy with a house band scene. OK. Well, she still tasted like cigarettes.

Suzanne Vega at Barrymore Theater

Win two tickets to see Suzanne Vega and Ari Hest at the Barrymore Theatre on Friday, May 16! This show is all ages. Yes, it's Suzanne Vega. Yes, MAYBE she'll play Louka, but in between the stuff you love and she probably hates at least a little bit, Vega will likely play from her new album Tales from the Realm of the Queen of Pentacles, her first release in seven years and a sort-of concept album bearing the courtly imprint and astral imagery of its title.

REAP's Burgers & Brews at Capital Brewery

Win two tickets to REAP's Burgers & Brew at Capital Brewery on Saturday, May 29! This event is all ages. Buy Fresh Buy Local chefs are pairing with local farmers and brewers and soda pop makers and ice creameries and ciders...I'm sorry, I just started drooling again. It's all over the keyboard. It's gotten into the cheeto dust layer of the WER keys and turned them into MSG-laden adobe bricks. Anyway, REAP & co. paired all those things for a night of deliciousness. Plus, the Krause Family Band, the Sparetime Bluegrass Band and Stompin' Radishes will be there to provide a soundtrack to your gluttony!
