The opening riff of "B.A.S." takes you back to a time when hairy beasts dressed up in paisley shirts and electric purple elephant bells stoked the inner mounting flame for the acid test.

I couldn't tell you what the song's actually about (although, apparently it has something to do with drinking and toking too much), but The Arge realize that heavy, gonad-vibrating brand of hard rock grooving perfected by Blue Cheer, and the early, blues-powered Led Zeppelin with gusto.

Speaking of gusto, the altered Blatz beer logo plastered that appears on the cover of the band's new self-titled album from which "B.A.S." is drawn is pretty clever, too.

An MP3 of the track is available in the related downloads at right. The Arge will be playing a CD release show for their new album on Friday, September 14 at the King Club, where they will be joined by Knuckel Drager and The Arkoffs. This show is also serving as a farewell party for Peter Newhall, the bassist for The Arge who is moving to Dublin only a few hours after the music ends early Saturday morning.
