If you're reading this, then it's safe to say the world didn't end. Take a moment to celebrate this fact. Go ahead and hug the nearest person in the room, but then consider the following: How you chose to spend the apocalypse says a lot about who you are as a person.

For a room full of people gathered at the Majestic Theatre, Friday night's supposed eve of destruction involved a "Moustache Bash," prophecies of world-ending weather be damned. The history of this event has something to do with Madison "creepfunk" purveyors Steez, who launched this annual mustache-themed party, which is now in its seventh year, to celebrate the end of classes at UW-Madison. This year's party just happened to fall on Friday, Dec. 21, a.k.a. Mayan doomsday, so it also had something to do with that.

Get the lowdown on the funky festivities from this video.

Whether the night marked the end or beginning of a new phase of life, no one seemed to care. Instead of focusing on doom and gloom, the evening was about listening to good music and basking in the warm, fuzzy feelings of the holiday season -- and attendees' facial hair. As someone pointed out on the dance floor just minutes before midnight, "No one ever saw a Mayan with a moustache."
