Chuck Money is a Madison-based DJ and producer. A regular on the downtown DJ circuit for ten years, he currently spins regular gigs at a trio of nightspots. The funk spinner also publishes a regular podcast, titled dust collective w/chuck money, that features his sets, old mixtapes, remixes, and rare finds.
"Diggin for records is what I do," declares the DJ in the description for the podast. "I only use two turntables and a mixer to do these little things. My focus is share the dope stuff I've dug over the years with anyone who wants to listen."
Artists I spin: I hate to name names and point fingers, but old soul. Pre-rap rap music, rapless rap. Traditional rap standards and chunks of funk.
Performance style:Uniquely dirty, with just the right sprinkle of squirty.
Crowd: It really depends on the venue, but I'd say the vibe is chilled out head-nod music for the most part. When it's time to get hype, I can and will. I prefer to build the night to peak at bar time. Then I drop the Black Sabbath.
