Get ready to celebrate when Kelly Starr-King and Mike Drake make their love for each other — and for Mother Earth — official, in a "sustainable" wedding ceremony at Isthmus Green Day, Saturday, April 17, 4 pm, at Monona Terrace in Madison.
They first met when their daughters played basketball together. "We became close friends, almost like family, for about seven years, so the thought of dating felt very strange. Once we got beyond those feelings, we both experienced an immense outpouring of love and affection. That was five years ago, on Mike's birthday, and we've never looked back," says Kelly.

Isthmus Green Day
is a family-friendly, environmentally focused festival and exposition designed to help people in the Madison community live a little greener. More than 3,000 people attend each year. The fest features hundreds of products, dozens of demonstrations and an excellent roster of expert speakers. Expectations are high for the single-day happening, which incorporates cooking demonstrations, eco-friendly fashion, alternative health information, entertainment, food and drink, and so much more.

For the most part, our eco-friendly wedding has been non-traditional. One tradition that Kelly wanted, was that I not see her dress before our wedding day so the only thing I know is that it’s pre-owned.
