Nearly 10 years ago, developers of the Krispy Kream 'franchise' in Milwaukee promissed 10 new storefronts. Only 2 have opened in the Milwaukee area and NONE in Madison. Don't get your hopes up for a Sonic buger anytime in the next 10 years....
So you don't think there's an eensy weensy
difference between the business models for Krispy Kreme and Sonic?
Krispy Kreme makes its product available at every convenience store on the block, thereby ensuring that no one ever need go to the actual storefront, thereby ensuring that no one buys the big profit margine items like mugs, shirts, and watered-down coffee.
Sonic advertises nationally with smart, funny ads that make the food seem appealing, even though large chunks of viewership have exactly ZERO access to those products, thereby creating a sense of anticipation and demand far outpacing supply.
Sonic: expanding. Krispy Kreme: shrinking.
Yeah, it'll never happen.
