Yet, unlike the others, I am not starting a new thread to reword the same old points. Just a point of clarification:
Quito, Ecuador
Mike Quieto
Carry on...

Dismissed.
Apparently, the Ethics Board found that Zach failed to present evidence to support his ethics complaint against Mike Quieto.
Oh, and they voted to place Zach's ordinance on file . . . too many holes in it.

Here is a link to the channel 27 story. The written part is weak, but the video isn't too bad.
http://wkow.madison.com/News/index.php?ID=11991
After the testimony was in, it was clear that Quieto had been authorized to sign the campaign finance reports in the TAA Treasurer's name, and he never took any action (other than copying and two-hole punching the documents for filing, upon direction of another person in the Clerk's office) on the campaign filings. The only testimony was that, when he brought the filings to the Clerk's office, he asked another employee to review them because he did not think he should.
Without evidence of him taking any "official action" as a City employee on the filings he had signed, there simply wasn't enough to proceed with the complaint. There were no dissenting votes from the Ethics Board members.

So what you're saying is...the capital of Ecuador didn't violate Wisconsin election laws?

Well, I'd like to see an apology, too. And it has little to do with the whole "signature-gate" bullshit, but rather Alderman Brandon's initial assertion that there was a Progressive Dane operative at work in the City Clerk's office, an election eve charge that impugned Mr. Quieto, Progressive Dane, and City staff all at the same time.
Shame on you, Zach Brandon.
Shame on you.

I haven't seen a picture of Mike Quieto. Is he sharply dressed like The Brandman?

In the light of the ruling, I'd like to encourage all the people who made complete fools of themselves on this thread to consider recusing themselves from all future comments on local politics.
Among them would be:
Randy New Man
Madisonienne
pulsewidth modification
Taxed
harrisimo
Unless you think you have yet more credibility to squander. Which would fit with your established pattern of fatuous and delusional thinking.

In addition to the apology, how about Zach Brandon pay some of Quieto's legal bills?

The best that can be said about the outcome is that the "ethics" process is broken, and people who you would expect to hammer this guy, defend him. In reality, the best ethics process is to have government employees and officials who are ethical, and to have people in positions of power who won't put up with bending the rules. How far the rot goes is anyone's guess. What allowed Quieto to escape? The Reagan defense: I don't recall. Yup, the epitome of an ethical government employee.

You probably have been mispronouncing it. I did for the longest time as well, until Austin corrected me. I always pronounced it as if it was Spanish: kee-eh-tow.
When I asked Mike why he never corrected me, he said, "Because I loved the way you said it."
