School board - going to be a while

Postby bdog » Wed Apr 03, 2013 5:39 am

Loumos / Strong is very close - will there be a recount?

How long will it take to tabulate the write-ins for Mirrilli? Will they even do that?

Have the Manskis started running for anything out in Cali-forn-IA?

I doubt there's any rush to tabulate the write ins for Mirilli. Only amounted to 4% of the vote.

As for Loumos/Strong, though it's close, I believe it's outside the "free" threshold for a recount. EDIT: But, of course, I should note that that is before any outstanding absentee ballots are counted.

Can anyone explain why Sarah Manski received over 10,000 votes?

At least 10,000 Madison voters are not nearly as informed as they purport to be?

How would it have worked if Manski had won? Would the school board get to appoint the board member if Manski couldn't serve?

I don't know why you doubt that I voted for Ananda Mirilli, minicat, but here is another and I think much more plausable reason Manski and Mirilli got so many votes when there was only one eligible candidate (Mertz) on the ballot:

Madison Teachers, Inc. fatigue.

Even many self-identifying Madison liberals, lefties, and progressives are tired of the circle of corruption. Those votes for Manski and Mirilli are protest votes.

"People" like Meade wrote in Ananda Mirilli.

The quotes make this appear to mean something like "so-called people like Meade." With that, I can concur.

It's becoming more evident Meade is not an actual person at all, but rather a convenient screen identity through which any number of randomly-sorted, obtuse political and social viewpoints can be aired without being claimed and clarified in any personal way.

The out-of-the-blue defense of religiosity is what convinced me. Where the hell did that come from, in the nothing-is-sacred-except-meanness Meade reality matrix? It's so totally out of character it renders the very notion of character irrelevant.

Characterizing an individual as a non-person is the first step in the process of ________________________.

Go ahead, class, feel free to brainsturm the fill-in-the-blank answers. (Hint: the process follows with 2. defining and 3. codifying.)
