So why not create a new center instead of removing this one. Aren't there plenty of "private" hunting and training centers. I guess conservatives are all about publicly funded programs as long as they are geared towards their own interests.
But they won't be publicly funded, and that seems to be the point, from the same link:
Instead the agency will ask nonprofit and commercial groups to apply to manage the property and run hunting, fishing and trapping education programs there. Groups would have to fund the programming without state money and build a small shooting range for training.
