Monona Terrace Hotel: It's really more of a Shelbyville idea

If it's news, but not politics, then it goes here.

Hey, now. You got quoted in the paper version this week. Now you've obligated to keep up the high standards instead of losing it all over the screen. As it stands now, that's what people are going to see when they click in to read what the discussion was about.

I thought Joe Tarr's article about it was interesting, not the least of which was for the unsurprising news that the study's author doesn't seem to be interested in talking to reporters about it.

I hope Verveer reads the article, since he seems pretty entrenched in the "we need to do this" crowd.

Side note: seems ironic that with all the complaining about lack of civility, seemunkeez butt-hurtedness did more than anything else to derail the topic of the thread.

Maybe he wants that gravy job of a bellhop in an empty hotel.

Empty hotel?

Let's call it The Overlook and let this guy run it.

I just saw that, and my jaw hit the floor. Funny how things like that work.

Just wanted to let you know I'm still done with this forum, but wanted to apologise to you snoqueen, for ruining your moment. Glad our discourse could be published, and sorry that the immaturity of others and my poor reaction to it ruined the whole thing. I have removed the improper posts, and hope that others will do the same so that this issue can get the attention and respect it deserves.

I would like to see again what the previous consultant said about Madison's future hotel needs before any hotel was built, when the Marcus Hilton site won over Randy Alexander's competing plan for what is now being called the Doyle Block. It seems to me Monona Terrace was positioning itself as a "boutique" convention center for mid-size meetings, trade shows, and weddings, not big conventions. Has that changed?
