Blunt's jail diaries were, indeed, treasures. That was a more whimsical time on TDPF and the characters here weren't afraid to put themselves out there in the service of a good story or two.

Reminds me of when beloved local hip hop mc Rob Dz ran a brief "Ask a black guy" series. It was not to be missed.

By the way, Blunt's likely still sort of pissed that we never hired him to write for us. Whenever he would bring that up with me, I'd tell him he should pitch a story. But that wasn't how he worked.

Six: Snoqueen.

Each week I have to pull together 120 - 200 words for the "Forum" box that appears on the same page as Letters to the Editor and the Lyons/Talaga cartoon. Some weeks are easier than others. Sometimes, it's a chore-and-a-half. I believe snoqueen has been quoted there more than any other Foron.

Smart, knowledgeable, opinionated and relentlessly classy. The board's a-holes will often try to throw her off her game, but she rarely flinches. And if you're talking about urban planning, development, zoning or things of that nature, you need her in the room.

You better know the Top 5 is solid if sno's not in it.

WOW, I am really surprise that Sno didn't make the top 5.

Hey, Joyce says it's pretty solid up there. I'm fine with that.

Thanks!

Mmm, a big greasy roast. Thanks, dog... I guess.

My mother had an oven just like that, with a clock that never worked. Strange flashback.

Two things that were often wrong during that time frame were clocks on the stove, and clocks in a car. The one on our stove ironically always worked, but we could never afford a car with a clock. The old man *worked* for a living.

My grandfather once told me that there were two kinds of people: those who do the work and those who take the credit. He told me to try to be in the first group; there was much less competition."

Ushering in the best handful of Forons is Ducatista, showing up at number five in this entirely subjective survey.

Ducatista may as well be mayor of downtown Madison, as she is more knowledgeable than any elected official claiming to represent the area and a hell of a lot more enthusiastic about living there. She's the rarest of commentators in that she simply gets what so many others miss. Simultaneously sincere and hilarious, she's never too earnest or too whimsical. And thanks to her background as a copy diva, her posts are pristine; she writes in a few sentences what it takes most of us two paragraphs to cough out. She's conversant in entertainment, food/drink, politics and two-wheeled transit both motorized and not. Perhaps best of all, she enjoys life and that comes out in her contributions here.

We're in your debt, Ducatista. Keep your bike shiny side up!

I'm not pissed anymore since ephedrine became illegal.
But still disappointed.

Everything I do is a pitch.

There are only 3 female posters who have ever visited this site, and already 2 of them have been named to the top 10. Joyce is corrupt, engaged to be married and already sniffing around for a plan B.

So help me, if I am not in the top 3, I'll take this eRag down. Like angry Jesus clearing the money changers from the temple, my vengence will be swift and terrible.

Now now. I remember fondly the contributions of Velvet Coffin and Stan Darsh, Velveeta and small cheese -- among others, surely.
