Federal funds lost by Wisconsin: $1.3 billion

Please limit discussion in this area to local and state politics.

Shooting down the train was a campaign promise that Walker made. Had he went ahead with it anyway you guys would be bashing him for breaking campaign promises. A majority of citizens see the train as a waste of taxpayer dollars (whether it's state or federal money WE are still paying for it).

Clearly it's better that WE pay for rail in California.

The difference is now we're paying twice. We're paying state taxes for improvements that are not being covered by federal dollars, and we're paying federal taxes for improvements in other states, which would have happened in WI. That is to say, we're paying more and getting less.

This is the funniest fuckin' thing ever.

I don't know which to laugh harder about: the fact that Earthling appears to be citing Walker's flip-flop in defense of his statement that Walker did the right thing by refusing the funds in the first place, or the fact that my four-year-old's Google skills kick this idiot's ass up and down.

Please keep posting, dumbass. Watching your rhetorical self-crucifixion is the very definition of holiday cheer.

Well, I no longer think that Earthling is a Blaska sock puppet. Even Blaska would have remembered that one.

Blaska was the sock puppet. That mustache should have been the tipoff.

State to return $11 million federal grant in dispute over health care law
The money was part of a larger federal package that was given to Wisconsin to implement the federal health care law passed by Congress and President Barack Obama in 2010. After receiving criticism from conservatives that he was helping implement "ObamaCare," Walker said this week that the state would return the money and stop the implementation.

But that announcement didn't highlight the $11 million, which would have gone toward improving enrollment systems for existing state Medicaid health programs for the poor. It would have helped pay for some improvements to BadgerCare Plus Medicaid programs that the Walker administration had wanted to pursue anyway because state officials say they would save taxpayers money.

Yes, let's continue to kick the neediest among us in the teeth, over and over again, in the name of ideology.

Thanks a lot, Governor Fuckwad.

California high-speed rail

Postby Beaver » Sat Jul 07, 2012 4:09 pm

It's nice to see California getting high-speed rail. Hopefully, it will come to WI someday.

California high-speed rail gets green light
http://news.yahoo.com/california-high-s ... 17469.html

"California lawmakers gave the green light to start building the nation's first dedicated high-speed rail line, a multibillion dollar project that will eventually link Los Angeles and San Francisco. The move marked major political victories for Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown and the Obama administration. Both have promoted bullet trains as job generators and clean transportation alternatives."
