full service gas station

What are the things that puzzle, enrage, delight and tickle you as you go about your life in Madison?

full service gas station

Postby Huckleby » Tue Oct 18, 2011 11:37 pm

Are there any gas stations in Madison that have a full service pump?

I have an injury that will make it a bitch to pump my own gas for a few weeks. Was driving past gas stations, and they all say "self service" on every pump. I thought I've seen "full service" somewhere, maybe not.

Probably anybody under 40-years-old thinks I'm nuts.

Maybe the Mobil on University across from UW credit Union? Maybe Waynes on Cottage Grove rd.

Not sure about either but for some reason they came to mind right away.

I remember at least 1 PDQ had a pump where you could get assistance for persons with disabilities. Even if your injury is just temporary, I doubt they would turn your money away.

Almost all stations have a blue button on the pump for disabled service. Granted some are difficult to reach from inside the vehicle. Think they have to provide fill up service to disabled by law but there are some exceptions for late hours and staffing levels. Try any larger station, Qwik Trip, PDQ, etc.

The BP on the corner of Mineral Point and Grand Canyon was, but they went out of business earlier this year, not that helpful for you. I want to say the station on Cottage Grove Rd, not the Mobil, but the one closer to Monona Dr., might? The last one I remember going to was on University Ave in Shorewood, where Panchero's is now - ahhh memories

Back to your issue - I would try PDQs. I know the one on Packers at Johnson has signage and huge blue call buttons encouraging those who require assistance to ask and they will be glad to help. I can't imagine their other locations don't have similar setup. That one was recently remodeled though and I noticed the nice signage and giant button.

Wayne's at Cottage Grove and Johns St, if you are on the east side. One full service pump and nice helpful people who are adults and will not roll their eyes.

That's the one I was thinking of - thanks for filling in the blank on the name sno! They're 100% gasoline too, if that matter to you.

Great, now I have a vision of a guy driving down the road in stirrups.

stirrups, stirrups .... without going into details, that could be the real solution.

My, this has been helpful.

The Shell station on Univ Ave near Midvale has a call button.

Hope you heal up quickly. My wife had an ACL tear and surgery awhile back and life kind of sucked for her for awhile. It's amazing how much we take our mobility for granted when we have it.
