That's because he's not afraid to take chances... and he also enjoys sleeping on a big pile on money.

Three Amigos
"You were supposed to fire up, we both fired up! It's like living with a six year-old"

Better Off Dead
"I've been going to this high school for seven and a half years, I'm no dummy!"

The Right Stuff (Men like, women - not so much)

Beautiful Girls
Great speech by Michael Rappaport (when he could still act...)

Roxanne
I've got a Steve Martin man-crush, so go ahead and add "The Man with Two Brains", "All of Me" and "The Jerk" (Plus many others, I suspect...)

I don't think I know anyone that doesn't like this movie.

Seriously.

Beautiful Girls is turrible but good. I love the fact that Greg Dulli is "the band" playing in the scene where Uma and Rapaport have their date at the Masshole townie bar.

1989-96 was the Peak o' Snipes:

Major League
King of New York
White Men Can't Jump (but EVERYBODY likes this movie, right?)
New Jack City
Passenger 57
Rising Sun
Demolition Man
The Fan

And Blade sucks.

I think the Beautiful Girls thing comes from both of my parents being from very small towns, and being able to identify with the characters so well. I know it was probably upstate NY, but the thing could have been set anywhere north of here and looked just the same.

My group of friends has always likes Better Off Dead, but I thought it was just us....

If only you were the only person who liked this barrel-scraping dreck-fest! I seem to be one of the only people on the planet (besides the critics) who thought this movie sucked -- everyone I know seems to think it's some sort of comedic masterpiece. Ick.

How about Gremlins 2? I know it's achieved a certain amount of cult cachet, yet whenever I mention to anyone how much I like it -- casual fans and film buffs alike -- they usually look at me cockeyed like I must be kidding and then either admit they've never seen it or that they haven't seen it since it came out. Hilarious film -- leaps and bounds more entertaining than the original.

Hmmm....what I can come up with that I think no one else likes is bound to get disproven on this thread. For the most part the theme seems to be films that involve Stallone that I loved as a kid but wasn't sophisticated enough at the time to realize they are garbage - and choose to say I still like them because I don't want to turn my back on my youth.

Rambo, First Blood Part 2
Rocky III (Mr. T and Hulk Hogan!)
Rocky IV (James Brown cameo...and training montage in Russia, are you kidding me??? AND, he practically ends the cold war with his moving post victory speech :D )

Also, I have always been a huge fan of the movie "Real Genius" with Val Kilmer. I'd venture to say lots of people like this movie, but I honestly don't know anyone who's familiar with it. I'm not sure where I heard this (it may have likely been on TDPF) but the character Laslo supposedly is loosely based on local legend Tunnel Bob.

Ghostbusters 2 doesn't get enough credit.

Galaxy Quest is hilarious to anyone who bothers to see it, though many skip based on Tim Allen in the lead, missing Alan Rickman, Sam Rockwell, and Tony Shaloub in the best comedy roles they'll ever have.

I like Jackie Brown the best of all Tarantino movies.

Hey, that just came out on DVD! I hated it. Don't know many folks who like it. You may be the winner here.

Demolition Man and Real Genius are both favorites.

Anyone for Slackers?
'Cool' Ethan: "I had a nickname for you! You wanna know what it was? I'm not going to tell you. All right, it was "Laser." "
Jason Schwartzman is always worth a watch.
