I'm with christopher_robin.
I've had one Nero D'Avola that I thought was spectacular, but even that was probably a little rough for the average American palate. (About $20 from a store known for good prices -- not in Madison, neeless to say.) I've had four or five since then, ranging in price from $8-$14. Nothing has struck my fancy, but I've always have poor luck with Italians (for the price).
The memory of that first one always makes me take a second look, though.
