CNN: 52% Say Obama Doesn't Deserve to be Reelected

Postby Cortez » Thu Feb 18, 2010 2:17 am

CNN wrote:An eye-opening result from the new CNN/Opinion Research survey:

6. Do you think Barack Obama deserves to be reelected, or not?

All Americans
Yes: 44%
No: 52%

Registered Voters
Yes: 44%
No: 52%

President Obama's job rating is slightly better, though still in negative territory. Forty-nine percent approve of the job he's doing while 50% disapprove. Overall, President Obama's job rating in the RealClearPolitics Average is 47.8% approve, 45.9% disapprove.

The reelect numbers for members of both parties in Congress are slightly worse (41% yes, 56% no for Dems and GOP among registered voters), and the GOP leads the Democrats by 2 points in the generic congressional ballot, 48 to 46. Overall, Republicans lead by 1.5 percent in the RealClearPolitics Averge for the generic ballot, 45.2 to 43.7.

http://realclearpolitics.blogs.time.com ... reelected/

Don't blame me, blame CNN. Why CNN of all places thought to poll this question, I do not know, but that was the answer. "Deserve to be elected" is a lot more damning than "approve or disapprove".

Cortez if we've learned anything from you it's that we shouldn't trust the liberal media or their polls. No you can't have it both ways. Did you see the poll where only 61% thought they received tax cuts under Obama when in factual reality 95% have factually received tax cuts through the recovery act? Did you see the poll where 71% thought gays and lesbians should be able to serve in the millitary but only 59% thought homosexuals should be allowed to serve? If polls prove anything it's that Americans are stupid.

If this poll is even remotely to be believed, one has to realize how amazing it is that the idiots in this country gave Bush & Co. EIGHT years to totally fuck up the US in just about every conceivable way, yet apparently feel that Obama should have had the 8 year mess all tidied up in his first year.

Progressives who are disappointed with Obama and the Dems in Congress (like myself) will be shooting themselves in the foot if they play the petulant child game and either sit the next election out or, worse, throw their support to either a Republican or an independent (which would be just another vote against Obama).

Be careful what you wish for.

Ned. They can't be Ball Polishers and want him gone at the same time. Either they are in his pocket or their not. I'll save you the time. All those times you said they were. They weren't. You were lying. Jesus hates liars. Now go say some hail Mary's and bugger a 12 year old so we can all just move on.

It's the actual election rather than the polls that prove that.

I assume you're referring to the two elections that resulted in G.W. Bush being in the White House?

Obama too. Don't forget we still don't know anything at all about him. He probably isn't even a citizen. Besides he didn't even have any executive experience I mean Sarah Palin was Mayor of a town the size of Oregon and even though she had the burden of more Federal Tax money per capita than ANY OTHER place in the country she still was able to overcome and drive the city to a sports-complex-meth-induced financial hellscape.

Relax, Fisticufffs - this poll is a snapshot, not a prediction. I'm posting it because I'm surprised, not to make sweeping guesses. I would guess the polled reaction illustrates a lot of people who don't normally vote for Democrats are angry when they compare the ideological result (partisanship) vs. the promise (post-partisanship). We all remember the campaign (how could we forget - it never ends). Bush-weary voters were willing to entertain fantasies by Obama-drunk liberal Democrats, according to whom Obama was "all things to all people". Whatever people wanted, that's what the "blank screen" was according to the lefties ready to say anything to convince them at their doorsteps. He was "the only one" who could.... (fill in the blank)"... Sweet talking pillow speak ... perhaps the poll reflects the disappointment of center types who should've known better and now regret their gullibility - not regretting that he's a liberal, but regretting being dumb enough to believe he was really in the center when he came calling for their votes.

Generally quotes are used to suggest something that was actually said. Not something made up by right wingers.

You're probably right here but its not that simple. Where's this partisanship coming from? You'd probably say the Left. You'd be wrong. Republicans have spent the last year doing nothing but trying to stop Obama from accomplishing anything at all even if its something they would or have supported in the past. They're not governing. Period. Yet somehow fools like you expect me to believe they deserve votes for sabotaging our government.

Ned Flanders and Cortez should look at Ronald Reagan's approval ratings in his first term.

The gold standard of republican politics wasn't so golden early (and late) in his first term.

This was entirely predictable: It's the economy, stupid. After all, as Aaron pointed out, shouldn't one year be enough time to magically reverse eight years of complete and utter incompetence?
