A few weeks ago I noticed that at the Madison Walgreen stores bottles of Tide had security locks on them. I expect security locks on flash drives, cameras, watches but Tide? And the only detergent bottles that had the locks were Tide.
Last week's issue of New York magazine explained it. As the article says "Tide bottles have become ad hoc street currency, with a 150-ounce bottle going for either $5 cash or $10 worth of weed or crack cocaine." Read the entire article at Suds for Drugs.
