buses from Chicago to Mexico?

Postby Paco » Thu Jun 07, 2007 10:33 am

anyone know of any buses that go from Chicago to Mexico? A friend is looking for the cheapest way to get to Mexico....Cancun is probably closest and cheapest.
or a cheap airline that flies there?

there are buses out of chicago union station via greyhound...

the problem is you change buses A LOT. and it gets very confusing once you cross the border.

not sure if there are buses going all the way to cancun.

cancun is actually further on bus than plane because you have to travel the entire length of the coast to cancun. lots of mountains and shit like that.

you can prolly find a cheap flight to cancun using Spirit or ATA or something like that.

You didn't say if this was one way or round trip. If it's round trip air and the friend is flexible the people at Vacation Hotline do a great job.

A bus might seem cheaper, but it probably won't actually end up being cheaper. I'd stay vigilant about a cheap flight, as it will likely save tons of cash in terms of food and just plain emotional stability in the long run.

A simple call to our justice-loving rulers in the White House would get him much closer to Mexico, distance-wise at least.

Seriously though, he should check return airfares even if he's going one-way, since often returns are cheaper anyway.

This site has a list of cheap airfare engines:

http://www.discountairfares.com/discoun2.htm

and includes a couple of Mexican ones that might be worth checking out.

i remember him telling me 2 years ago how he has been all over, but he'd never get a visa to the US--being Muslim and all. And here he is.

SW has a $139 fare to Cancun. Grey dog has 129 no advance, 79 in advance to Motamorsos(?).. I was wondering if there are some cheaper, Mexican ones besides Greyhound
