U.S death toll in Iraq reaches 2000

The war in Iraq, the war in Afghanistan, global warming, religious strife, etc.

Generally speaking, the dumbasses look the same because they are the same.

Just sayin'.

So what is your typical response when someone calls you a dumb ass?

At least I can read.

My reaction? I laugh. But I'm more prone to being called a smart ass than a dumb ass.

Sorry it hurt your feelings, if only you had known that I was valedictorian at the Reginald Albert Forman School of Etiquette class of '79.

No not really. I'm pretty much Willie Nelson serene.

Yeah. Sure. We can all see that.

It was a rhetorical question. Didn't expect a truthful answer, so I didn't get one. :-)

If it was truly a rhetorical question you wouldn't have expected any answer.

Three (& a half) things:

1) You don't know me.
2) Explain your reasons, if you have any.
3) See no. 1 again.
3.5) I'm not certain that you can handle the truth, Glaucon.

You are confused by cause and effect. Because I have the effect of making some people rattled, angry, spitting and confused does not mean that I am like that myself. Rarely have I seen a collection of more delicate and intellectually thin-skinned as one witnesses here. Grow the balls to be comfortable with someone who does not agree with you on every issue. Try to have the courage to attack your own beliefs.

People who DO know me say that I'm too laid back. Wouldn't you agree that they're probably in a much better position to know?

It's a tough love I have for you.

Victory to the Iraqi freedom fighters who are defending their homeland against the invading American forces.

And would you mind telling everyone for what type of freedom they are fighting? The type they had under Saddam Hussein?

At the risk of sounding picky, Saddam hasn't been in power since our forces found him in a hole in 2003. That's six years. I think the question should be who's in power NOW. Might want to look at the guys with the big guns and pallets of money. They want us to leave. I would too if i were them.

I don't doubt that some Iraqi's want the U.S. out of there... but I would hardly characterize those engaged in fighting the U.S. military as "freedom fighters." The only "freedom" they want is the freedom to to impose some sort of tyranny that would be no better than that which was removed when Saddam's brand of criminal government was run out of town. By Kid's logic, the Sicilian Mafia were a bunch of "freedom fighters" because they opposed Mussolini. Not on your life! They fought him only because he made business as usual difficult for them.

I suggest that anyone who actually thinks they want to cheer for these so-called "freedom fighters" ought to dig around on the Internet and watch a few of the beheading videos that were once so popular.

I'm not certain I would either, but I'm guessing they and their fellow fighters would.

I'd characterize them as members of one of the other sides of the Iraqi Civil War that we began with the invasion and is still going on although it's probably almost over due to most of the other sides being killed or getting the hell out of the country like most of the Iraqi middle class has already done.
