I get that the targeted organizations ultimately got the sweet deal they sought, but they still were harassed to some degree.

The details of this thing don't matter so much. Once you go down the path of searching for "Tea Party" for any purpose, the IRS is screwing up.

IF, and that's a giant IF anything "wrong" occurred, it was purely at a process level and should never have left the office, let alone make national news.

And for the record: less than ONE THIRD of the questionable applications reviewed by the IG were from conservative groups; they got off EASY. But again, let's not let this FACT persuade anyone.

That there is Sandi level stupid.

Wow. Way to declare your own COMPLETE irrelevance here.

OMG another bridge collapses.

http://news.stlpublicradio.org/post/fre ... -collapsed

The NTSB, which is controlled by Democrats, is supposedly "investigating." What a joke. The responsibility goes straight to the top and you know Obama's the one who purposely unfunded the bridge inspectors knowing all along our bridges are for shit, a few were bound to collapse, and then people would realize it was all fate and regulation and inspection are for socialists.

And no, that doesn't make sense but we don't care.

.., the circumstances surrounding the collision are highly unusual.

At least that's the way they're spinning it. That's two bridges in one week. See a pattern yet?

Where's the screaming, guys?

I wonder why the scandal of sexual assaults in the military have so far not tarnished the commander in chief.

Those 48 hours ensured that Lerner will be the face (and voice) of this ongoing scandal: the government bureaucrat who insists she is innocent, refuses to answer questions, then takes what amounts to an extended vacation paid for by taxpayers.

Lois Lerner, for living up to every negative stereotype of a federal worker, you had the worst week in Washington.

BO's GOV Targets Political Enemies

In one raid, the feds hauled away ebony fingerboards, alleging they violated Madagascar law. Gibson responded by obtaining the sworn word of the African island's government that no law had been broken.

In another raid, the feds found materials imported from India, claiming they too moved across the globe in violation of Indian law. Gibson's response was that the feds had simply misinterpreted Indian law.

Interestingly, one of Gibson's leading competitors is C.F. Martin & Co. According to C.F. Martin's catalog, several of their guitars contain "East Indian Rosewood," which is the exact same wood in at least 10 of Gibson's guitars. So why were they not also raided and their inventory of foreign wood seized?

Grossly underreported at the time was the fact that Gibson's chief executive, Henry Juszkiewicz, contributed to Republican politicians. Recent donations have included $2,000 to Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., and $1,500 to Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn.

By contrast, Chris Martin IV, the Martin & Co. CEO, is a long-time Democratic supporter, with $35,400 in contributions to Democratic candidates and the Democratic National Committee over the past couple of election cycles.

"We feel that Gibson was inappropriately targeted," Juszkiewicz said at the time, adding the matter "could have been addressed with a simple contact(from) a caring human being representing the government. Instead, the government used violent and hostile means."

That includes what Gibson described as "two hostile raids on its factories by agents carrying weapons and attired in SWAT gear where employees were forced out of the premises, production was shut down, goods were seized as contraband and threats were made that would have forced the business to close."

Nothing to see here. Honestly, I'm just hoping he really intends to go home when his term is over.

I get a 'sorry charlie' when I click your link, bludgeon. Is realclear markets associated in any way with realclearpolitics?

If so, why even post it?

So you've edited your link, but not answered the question regarding the source, bludgeon? What's the skinny? Realclearmarkets = Realclearpolitics?

RealClearMarkets, a sister site of RealClearPolitics...

East Indian Rosewood is sourced, as the name might suggest, from India, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia, not Madagascar nor Brazil, and is not "the exact same wood" as Brazilian or Madagascar rosewood, which may suggest why Martin wasn't raided.

Really, people, Google is your friend. The Gibson story goes back to 2009, as the first hit on "gibson rosewood" (an NPR story from 2011) makes clear.

Alpuz, could you please tell us what media you are allowed to read? I'm sure it's a short list.

It sure the hell isn't realclearpolitics and anything associated with them.

I also stay away from Ben 'friends of hamas' Shapiro and the brietbart gang of dipshits. There's Dim Jim 'dumbest man on the internets' Hoft and Pam 'I screech therefor I am' Geller.

I understand right-wing grifters need to cash in, but I'm not willing to buy into their product, Leroy.

You're something of a poster-child for higher voting ages and public school reform.

That's great. Your sources for the information you make your decisions upon suck, Bludgeon.

Good luck with that.

This is hilarious. As someone who's followed this story for well over a year I have to ask why does the author ask this question but not answer it? I mean the information is out there and anyone who's followed this story knows the answer. I don't know how someone like Bludge can read this awful dishonest shit and still visit the site. WHY Gibson was raided had nothing to do with the type of wood but how they acquired it. Illegally. Martin doesn't intentionally break the law to make a few extra bucks. So they weren't raided.
