It's the first year of the National Bike Challenge
. I'm in. Anybody else doing it?
If you're even remotely bikey, or would like to be, it's a great motivator. You earn 1 point per mile, and 20 points for each day you ride. Doesn't have to be commuter miles, any ride counts. You can log miles manually or download a GPS tracker if that doesn't make you twitchy.
The Challenge tracks points by individual, team (optional), workplace (optional), community, and state. Wisconsin's in 2nd place behind Vermont. Madison's in 1st place nationally, with Watertown/Fort Atkinson and Burlington, VT close behind.
I've got nothing for sporty shit, but this challenge has gotten me on my bike every single day since May 1 just to get my daily 20 points. Nothing bad about that.
C'mon, do it. No way those syrup slurpers should be in 1st place.
