I emailed him on a lark many years ago through his jewelry web site, and asked him if Steely Dan's song "Kid Charlemagne" was specifically about his endeavors. I was surprised that he promptly replied with a polite denial that he had any inside info. For my part, I was tickled that he gave the effort to answer a question he had likely answered many times before. It's the little things, I guess.
