I know Mean Scenester has been waiting for this all week!

This week on Rants without Pants, an interview with Madison City Council Alder, Bridget Maniaci. I also take a look at the shady workings of the Republican law firm Michael Best & Friedrich.

You can watch it on my blog...

John Wayne Gacy had lawyers who represented him too. Does that make the law firm evil? Nice selective outrage on gerrymandering. Look at the before and after map that you put up for about 1/2 of a second. Now take a look at the maps for the Illinois 4th Congressional District, or Florida's 23rd. Now THAT's gerrymandering. Is there an evil force behind those?

All gerrymandering is illegal (at least in 48 States with Wisconsin being one of them). Lawyers can't help someone break the law. I believe it's fair to say that these districts were drawn for political purposes and done with the help of Michael Best and Friedrich...once again, that is gerrymandering and that is illegal.

Both parties are guilty of this and that's why I believe strongly in Tom Barrett's idea of having the Government Accountability Board which consists of 6 non-partisan former judges to be the ones who redraw the lines. I just don't trust politicians (from either side) to do it.
