Don't do that, ShaneDog.

I not only give Austin a lot of credit for the work he did, I also enjoy having a beer with him and want his head to fit through the door at Genna's.

Turbo-charging all that youthful hubris with Feingold comparisons ain't gonna help. :)

I should clarify my point. I wasn't comparing Austin King to Feingold. I was making a point about what you can reasonbly give someone credit for doing. Don't get me wrong, Austin King has nothing on Feingold, but they both picked an issue, and pushed it until it passed and they both deserve credit for that.

Well, since the student dork is soliciting ego strokes for the man in his mirror, how about other awards for which he might be nominated. Let's get that hollow head really puffed up.

Nominations are open for:

Alder with the least real world economic experience.

Alder with the most demonstrative and rudest eye rolls when an opposing point is presented in chamber.

Alder with the most obvious appearance transformation when soliciting approval or career advancement outside his district.

Alder responsible for reallocating the most income earned by others, primarily not in his district.

Alder with an ego bigger than his own butt.

All of these people give of their time and their lives to help their community. They all deserve thanks for engaging the system and trying to help make life here better in many ways.

Word!

They could be making more $$/having more fun doing other stuff, and this tends to be forgotten amid some of the inside baseball. I'm as guilty of that as anyone, as all the intrigue re: personalities can sometimes be so tempting. :)

So yeah, even the worst of the lot is at least engaged in their community, and I join you in giving props to all who stand for office.

It's bad enough you're going through blatant attention-withdrawal since your 15 minutes of "fame" ran out, but do you have to advertise it?

Like throwing a red herring to Benford fools anybody.

Austin King's shirt-tailing the minimum wage issue reminds me of the first time I went into a casino. I won Wisconsin large ($hundreds). And of course, I believed my return visits would prove as fruitful. I am sure one can guess that outcome...

The young man has pluck and beginner's luck is a nice treat. I hope he keeps a sense of humility. I am sure he will be politically de-pantsed eventually as all of us should at least once in our lives..... Keep in mind that this new min. wage has not taken place just yet and if there is any fallout from this ordinance then guess who gets the idealist tag tattooed on his ego keeping his aspirations confined to the Madison cubby hole.

May you get what you want, but may you want what you get
