The Frequency: Friday November 6
Ampline
The venerable Cincinnati band has more in common with Mission Of Burma than the standard amorphous post-rock. They play passages of complex, chiming beauty, but most of their songs begin and end in a compressed rush so intense that it's easy to forget the lack of vocals.
The United Sons of Toil
Precision Midwestern noiserock delivered by populist theoreticians.
Disguised As Birds
This Milwaukee band is clearly influenced by DC (and Midwest) post-hardcore heroes of decades past. They don't waste a breath or a beat, rattling through tracks by way of craftily ragged grooves, slyly finessed guitars, and a rhythm section that hits incredibly hard.
