Pupy Costello/New Hiram Kings @ King Club 6/16

Got a gig coming up? A CD coming out? A new bass player who looks like Jesus and smells like a field of posies? If you're selling or promoting something, post it here.

Why did Pupy and the Boys start another band?

Can't afford to split the money with an opener (Those bar tabs are a bitch)

Pupy Costello/New Hiram Kings @ King Club 6/16

Speaking on behalf of Pupy and the rest of the Big City, I can say we're super excited for our show at the King Club next Friday- we're rolling out our first in a series of side projects, The New Hiram Kings*.

It's basically an acoustic band, with me on Doghouse, Marty on Washboard, Ed on Dobro (and barely amplified steel), and Pupy strumming an acoustic and possibly a ukelele. Then we'll plug in and be the same musical advertisement for the Betty Ford Clinic that we always are.

Personally, I'd pay the cover to see if we're still standing at midnight. I give it even odds.

I can tell you where you got the name.

But then I'd never get out of this world alive.

We also have a little side bet going on in the band where the audience will decied the winners of each of the following

We (each member of the band) are the nominees.
And the categories are:

Most drunkest?
Most regrettable thing said?
Most pissed off?
Worst stage deportment?
Most embarassing?
Biggest gaff?
Most memorable line?
Married chick closest to sleeping with Tiddlywinks. (fellas keep your wives and girlfriends away from our fiddle player. He is heavy on the player if you know what I mean.)

You fellas sure this is really the best idea? I suppose all the other categories are really side-effects of the first one.

Can you count anything we've done as "the best idea"?

Here are six bad ideas that I can think of quickly:

(In rough cronological order)

1. Naming the band "Pupy Costello & His Big City Honky Tonk"
2. Hiring me to play bass
3. Buying that bubble machine
4. Playing a gig outside in February
5. Two words: Tinder. Box.
6. Booking a gig at Noon this Saturday. (Hey kids, stay away from the bass player, he's sweating a distillery!)

Any others?
