Ever have calamari? Squid is a close cousin to octopus.

Slippery slope alert. If you think too hard about this you'll quit eating any meat at all. Do not ask me how I know this.
Pigs can be mighty cute and a lot of fun to watch at play. Cows can be mischievous. Maybe that's why they're off my list.

Octopus and squid entertain my teeth. Truly al dente.

It's currently on the menu at a pig in a fur coat.

They can pry the word "octopodes" out of my cold, dead hands.

So we have two kids coming to visit, and Dad has requested a little something to broaden their eating habits. What more natural choice than octopus?

These will be marinated in olive oil, lemon, garlic, rosemary, thyme, and oregano (herbs fresh from the garden). Then onto a hot grill. Can't wait ...

(Subvert the somnolent palate!)

Snip off a few tentacles, slice them into rounds and do them a-la-roma - as another experience.
For some reason the digestive thing that runs my body will not accept these creatures as food, this makes me sad.
Octopi/squid are awesome seafare if you can tolerate them.

Well, these are both hot-dog/squishy-bread type of kids, but they did fairly well. They weren't enthused by the prospect of their many-tentacled dinner, but they tried some and declared it "ok."

Best of all, they earned bragging rights.

(In fact, I think grilled is the way to go. They were insanely delicious.)
