What's opening, what's closing, who's doing something new and who's moving from that one joint to that other one?

From the website: CAFE PORTA ALBA WILL BE TEMPORARILY CLOSED BEGINNING MARCH 29th
We're seeking a new location. Please send use your email if you'd like us to keep you informed: http://www.cafeportaalba.com/index.htmHere's hoping they find one fast. Give 'em your e-mail so they can see how much they'll be missed. EDIT: Or try, anyway: mailbox is full: retry timeout exceeded

The photo on the bottom right hand side of their website seems to show Klansmen performing some sort of ritual.
We don't need that in Madison.

Every time I restaurant I like announces that they're closing temporarily, I worry that is isn't going to be temporary after all.
Please let this closing be EXTREMELY temporary.

They should take Sucre's old spot. They would make a killing there.

That place seems to be cursed. I enjoyed some fabulous pizza and wine, at the previous incarnation. And I miss the apple pie (home made!) from the preious coffee shop.

The Cafe Porta Alba website is now reporting that they will be re-opening at Hilldale. SWEET.

We ate at Cafe Porta Alba last night at their new location. Based on our dismal experience, I wouldn't go until they've been there a few weeks. The service was awful. And, it wasn't just us, the people at tables on either side were having a bad time as well. On one side, it took multiple tries and at least 30 minutes for them to settle their bill.

The bad service thing is such a common complaint with newly opened restaurants I'm not sure that it would dissuade me from going. Also, some people always seem to get "bad service." How was the pizza? If its anything like it was at the old place, they'll be packing 'em in at this location, and I'll be eating there a lot.

In all of my 2-3 visits to the old location, I found the service to be pretty random and spacey* - so I'd be pretty cautious about hoping for it to be just a startup glitch at the new one.
*But not bad enough to put me off their pizza, which I always thought was terrific.

I think we only went once before, but don't remember the service. The pizza however, was one of the best in town. Since we go to Sundance frequently, and sushi is a no no for the wife now, I'll probably go a lot more now. But first I have to try Greenbush...
