What is happiness??

Postby mluther746 » Tue Nov 24, 2009 5:42 am

Hi Friends.

"Happiness is one of the things we never get enough of, no matter how much we have and no matter what definition we give it."

I never heard anybody pretending being happy an entire life. Moments yes, but not a lifetime. Perhaps that’s because happiness is such an intense feeling that no human body can sustain it for so long.

Please share your opinion.
Thanks.

This is where you will run into problems. If you state something, but can not then back it up with a link to an academic study or a published paper, stating the same, then it will carry no more weight than a wet paper bag. It has to come from an "educated" source.

That being said, I'm happy most of the time. I attribute that mostly to working for myself and having a longtime GF who does not feed on conflict and drama.

I don't really care if you're sheppy or not, at least someone's posting.

Like that neo-con apologist once stated a long time ago, "Happiness is a warm gun."

...a warm gun....

Actually, a manner of traveling, rather than a destination.
Ever notice, when you got to the destination, you got to
thinking about what's next?

By asking "what is happiness" you ask a very good question. Recently I had my own shot at defining happiness, which aims to be more “scientific” and “objective” (as much as this is possible for a subjective feeling such as happiness):

“A person can be considered to have experienced a “happy” moment if the person chooses to re-live it as an end in itself if offered at no cost.”

For the detailed derivation of this conclusion please have a look at What is happiness? ; What do you think about this definition?

Thank you,

Nick

Happiness is: Sending a corporation an email, voicemail and snailmail and getting a call from the snail!
