Cookin' weiners on the bonfire of my vanities

Postby TheBookPolice » Wed Jun 11, 2008 3:19 pm

I'm oversensitive!

I'm too self-promotional! (by the way, check out my new Fringe Foods column on the Daily side)

I use too many commas!

I stole "ass kazoo"!

I'm a hypocrite for ignoring some people and then engaging them anyway!

I correct grammar too much (or is that "too often"?)!

I called one of Wagstaff's comments "trollish"!

I act like the Forum police! (Book police? More like BORE-ohpyll!)

I liked Chuck_Schick too much!

I asked an honest question about how we treat each other, and got slammed for it!

...

Take your pick. Bucky, pulsewidth, don't hog 'em all. Don't throw like a girl, blunt. Someone grab one in honor of white_rabbit. Go on. Toss 'em in. They'll all burn.

And now, I'm picking up my marbles and going home.

Come on Bookie. Relax baby! Take it easy. I like you even though you give me a ton of shit. It was bad enough losing Chucky. I don't want to lose you too.

I mean where are you going to go? madison.com...give me a break.

We are all just stuck with each other. Let's make the best of it.

You missed "Harris Lemberg is my new girlfriend". He'll take good care of your marbles. Probably even carry them home for you when he's done with them.

And you didn't steal ass kazoo. Remember? It was beneath you.

I never said I was leaving. I said I was going home. What's lame about that? I'm home now.

BUT...I did mean what I indicated by the rest of that post. I'm done putting myself in positions to be berated, ridiculed or denigrated. All those things I listed, I've probably done at one time or another. And they've caused people to dislike me or hate on me.

So I'm done doing those things. It'll be pretty fucking boring, but I'd rather be read than ignored, rather be easily forgotten than perpetually hated.

Yeah if I owned a dvd of "Bonfire of the Vanities" I'd probably burn it too.

Reading this forum stirs emotions akin to the emotions I felt when I first read Sartre's "No Exit".

Indeed, hell is other people.

At $500 an hour, who could blame you? These are lean times.

I'll be honest, I don't know what the previous three comments mean, but fennel, I haven't been getting you for months now.

C'mon, people, it was my 4000th post!

This was my 3000th:

or 3/1 retire, if you're sheppy...

Naw, it'll probably be some annoying, self-referential, navel-gazing metacomment.

.....shit.

It's what I do! None of you bastards even noticed. I'm like the Ken Griffey Jr. of Foronistan. You're all so friggin' burned out by all the bullshit lately you can't even have a good fucking time with me on this one.

Don't worry about it, it'll all be back to normal tomorrow.

Oh, and meowza? It wasn't just the book/movie.

Yeah, I know what it is. I just wasn't sure if you thought I was torture, or if it was just a general commentary.

Actually, my comment was directed at meowzamusic; it was an attribution error. So it's neither here nor there.

General commentary on the way people needle and torture each other on public forums. You are not torture.
