I read that Tony Sheridan recently died. He played at the Star Club in Hamburg and the Beatles were his backup band when they first recorded. I bring this up as the news of his passing stirred up old memories. Back around 1974, my best friend's ex-girlfriend (Maureen) married a former rock drummer. He played with Johnny and the Hurricanes, also when they were at the Star Club, and knew the Beatles back then. (Not to be confused with Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, a British group that also played the Star Club.)
Anyways, since I couldn't remember the drummer's name, I did a quick google search. According to Wiki, Johnny Paris had a revolving set of bandmates, but no names were mentioned. When I met the unnamed drummer, he still had his kit in his basement rec room, along with a framed promo picture of the band from back in the day and at least one record on the wall. No, it wasn't "Red River Rock."
Any local rock historians know more about this?
