On Jan. 6, the Neenah-based hard-rocking country quintet Blueheels played to an appreciative crowd at the Crystal Corner Bar. The band consists of Robby Schiller (acoustic guitar and vocals), Adam Cargin (drums), Justin Bricco (electric guitar), Brett Jannusch (bass), and Rebecca Krafft (vocals). They are touring in support of their new album Long Gone, gradually making a name for themselves throughout the state with each stop.
A live concert clip from the corner follows below.
The Saturday night show was well-documented in writing as well as video. Madison music journalist Kiki Scheuler checked out the show, concluding that the Blueheels "absolutely tore the roof off of the Crystal Corner" during their two sets. "As they played almost up till bartime, I was amazed how many songs they had beyond those on the CD," she wrote. "Easily enough for a whole 'nother record, which I would like to encourage them to record as soon as possible because you can never have enough of a thing this good." Blueheels also received good marks from another attendee, who set aside apprehensions of boredom and found that the group plays "fantastic rock music."
Blueheels are busy over the first few months of 2007, touring repeatedly through most corners of Wisconsin. Their next stop in Madison is for a dual CD release party (with The Wandering Sons) at Café Montmartre on Groundhog Day, followed in mid-April for a show with the 2007 Wisconsin Film Festival.
