Today's image is titled wingra creek bridge and was photographed by T.L. Koehntopp.

This photo depicts a line of rivets atop the oxidized and flora-spackeled railing of a bridge spanning Wingra Creek. The creek runs from Lake Wingra through the heart of the south side of Madison before its outlet into Lake Monona on the north side of Olin-Turville Park. At least six bridges span the length of the creek, and have been a focus of reconstruction efforts in recent years. The bridge spanning the creek at Beld Street (just east of Park) was replaced in 2003, for example. Another bridge used quite a bit by bicyclists and pedestrians is the span at the west end of the creek, where it exits Lake Wingra. Just south of the Henry Vilas Zoo, this bridge leads into Arboretum Drive through the heart of the UW Arboretum.

There is a larger version of the photo in the gallery at right.
