Isthmus Food & Wine Festival is partnering with Paolo Verde Zero-Waste Planning and the Wisconsin John Muir Chapter of the Sierra Club to minimize the amount of waste produced at the event.

Disposal stations will be located throughout the festival for waste generated. After the festival, all food waste will be sent to the City of Madison Compost Pilot Project.

In addition, we hope the reusable plates and glasses will significantly cut the amount of waste generated. Vendors have been asked to use as many compostable and recyclable sampling accessories as possible. At the entrance, each guest will receive one biodegradable plate courtesy of VerTerra, as well as the commemorative wine glass, courtesy of Vom Fass.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support of our efforts! With your help we can keep the festival waste to a minimum, honoring the environment and making a difference in the community.

For questions about the Zero Waste effort, please contact Paul Abramson, Paolo Verde Zero-Waste Planning, zerowastemadison@gmail.com, (608) 279-8339; or Don Ferber, Sierra Club, d_ferber@sbcglobal.net.
