Your band only has a few more days to register for Isthmus' 2011 Band to Band Combat! Over 1,400 people listened to and voted for bands in the 2010 contest, making Band to Band Combat the biggest local music contest in Madison.
Nominally a contest, Band to Band Combat has been very successful in getting a lot of Isthmus readers interested in listening to songs from local bands over the length of the competition online. While it's typically the bands with established fan bases that end up closing in on the finals, emerging bands have been able to heighten their profiles through the contest.
Just ask bands like Sleeping in the Stereo, Charlemagne, Brainerd, The Selfish Gene, the United Sons of Toil, the Lucas Cates Band, Ida Jo and the Show, The Nod, Whitney Mann and many more who have increased their reach and connected with their fans via B2B.
The grand prize includes 20 hours of time at Madison's Blast House Studios, which means one lucky band will end up with some great-sounding tracks when it's all over.
Voting will get underway on Thursday, November 11, and we'll cut the field down each week until we end up with four bands who will play live on Thursday, December 15. That's the last day of class at UW-Madison, the night before a "study" day.
