This year, Madison's end-of-summer bash moves to the 100 block of King Street, and it will be bigger, better and more fun for the entire family. Come celebrate with Isthmus, King Street neighbors and the winners of the Madison's Favorite Readers Poll on Saturday, August 29 from 3:00 p.m. to midnight on King Street where it meets Capitol Square.
For the first time ever, the block party will start early to include great family-friendly entertainment, games and activities. Starting at 3 p.m., DJ Nick Nice will break out his Baby Boogie music while the Jolly Giants impress with stilt-walking, magic, juggling, and more. Ancora Coffee will have delicious food and drinks along with face painting, while the Aldo Leopold Nature Center will have interactive games and activities. Then at 5 p.m., the children's group Shrunken Heads, will take the stage. Plus, the men's clothing store Context will be selling their wares all day.
The nighttime party atmosphere will begin at 7 p.m. with mingling on the sidewalk and in the street with the Taste of King Street, featuring food and drinks from Tutto Pasta Cucina Italiana, Madison's, Opus Lounge, Woof's, Café Continental, Ancora Coffee, Kushi Bar Muramoto, and The Local Tavern.
You won't want to miss three amazing musical performances starting at 7:30 p.m. Blueheels will kick things off followed by Madison's Favorite DJ, Nick Nice. The excitement will skyrocket when '70s cover band VO5 takes the stage with classic tunes, amazing costumes and a can't-miss light show.
The party is presented by Isthmus and sponsored by the Great Dane Pub & Brewing Company. Additional sponsorship support provided by Madison's Central Business Improvement District. Nearby street parking is available in addition to the Brayton, Government East and Capitol Square North city parking ramps; more information on parking can be found here.
