Here's an early holiday present for Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra subscribers and fans. Despite an ongoing labor dispute, which saw musicians go on strike last month, the orchestra will perform its holiday pops concert on Nov. 29 and 30 as scheduled.

The WCO announced the performance would go on as “a show of good faith” between both parties in the dispute. “Naturally, as musicians, we look forward to sharing our music with our audience once again,” says principal oboist Naomi Bensdorf Frisch in a statement released Friday. “We are delighted to have made this important progress; it will feel very good to provide some holiday joy for young and old alike this Thanksgiving weekend."

The news comes on the heels of the group's scuttled Halloween concert, which was slated for Oct. 24. The WCO cancelled that performance in what musicians characterized as an inexplicable "Halloween trick."

The musicians struck on Oct. 1 over travel reimbursement and other issues.

The Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra performs the holiday program Saturday (8 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.), Nov. 29 and 30, at the Madison Marriott West. The show will include performances of Handel’s Messiah, Hanukkah Festival Overture by Lucas Richman, and The Snowman by Howard Blake.
