Amid the ongoing labor dispute with its musicians, the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra has cancelled its popular Halloween concert, which was to have taken place October 24 with music of Hector Berlioz, Engelbert Humperdinck and Bernard Herrmann.
"This is about [the musicians'] lack of commitment to come back to the concert hall and proceed with the concert while negotiations are ongoing," says WCO executive director Doug Gerhart in a press release, which is available in the related downloads at right.
The musicians struck on October 1 over travel compensation, attendance policy and other issues. The orchestra's concert on Friday, October 3, its first of the season, was also cancelled, though the musicians delivered a free performance at another venue.
