In Isthmus' Oct. 26 Wisconsin Book Festival supplement, festival director Alison Jones Chaim announced that she will relinquish her role at the end of this year.

Meanwhile, the Wisconsin Humanities Council, the organization that oversees the fest, is looking to the future. Fundraising has become increasingly difficult in recent years, forcing the council to consider how to make the five-day event sustainable.

"We're talking to all our partners, examining different models for financing and managing this big and expensive project," says executive director Dena Wortzel.

No new leaders have been chosen, but Wortzel says the council is committed to maintaining the quality level Wisconsin book lovers have come to expect since 2002.
