GUIDELINES FOR PRE-PRINTED INSERTS & POST-IT® NOTES
INSERTS
Isthmus connects you with customers and saves you money by delivering your preprinted inserts. Each week, we place Isthmus in
more than 600 locations all over Madison and around Dane County. Our 150,000 readers are a selective bunch. They choose to
pick us up. Your business can pick up at the same time.
- Pre-printed advertising inserts are a great way to expand your reach in specific areas or to penetrate the whole city, targeting your campaign to reach different areas at different time.
- Isthmus inserts offer tremendous savings over direct mail postage cost.
- Each week, we place Isthmus in more than 600 locations in the Madison Metro area.

- The minimum insertion is 10,000 units. Inserts may be no larger than 10" x 11.5". Minimum size is 5.5" x 8.5".
- Single-page inserts must be 60# stock minimum.
- An insert can be included in the full press run or in targeted areas. Please confirm your target locations with Isthmus.
- There is a $5/M surcharge for non-sequential or single-location selection within routes.
- These prices are effective July 1, 2006 and are subject to change. These rates are non-commissionable.
- Insertions are not available on certain dates. Please check with Isthmus for confirmation.
RESERVATIONS & SCHEDULING
- Isthmus requires a sample of every pre-printed insert for format approval prior to scheduling confirmation.
- Isthmus requires an insertion order for each scheduled insert. Insertion orders are due by 5 pm Monday, 16 days before
the insert is to run. Distribution is on Thursdays.
PACKAGING, SHIPPING & LABELING
- Pre-printed inserts should NOT be tied or shrink-wrapped. They should be brick-stacked on skids in uniformly jogged
turns of no less than six inches, or boxed, with each box weighing no more than 50 pounds. Boxes should be numbered
"1 of 5," "2 of 5," etc.
- Your pre-printed inserts should be clearly labeled "for Isthmus" with the account name, quantity and insertion date.
- Your pre-printed inserts must arrive 10 days prior to the insertion date, shipped to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Costs are per thousand, printed on one side, and include all production and insertion charges.
Minimum 30,000, maximum single insertion is 64,000. Larger quantities, for multiple issue insertion,
can be quoted separately. Minimum cost is $2,430. Space reservations are due 28 days in advance of
insertion date. Final copy is due 21 days in advance. Your Post-It® Note can be designed by our award-winning
Isthmus art department at no additional charge. Just ask your advertising representative for
details. Distribution details are listed below. Custom distribution available for an additional 15%.
